Erik was born and raised in Hong Kong and pursued tertiary studies in Melbourne (Australia). After graduation of the Bachelor of Biomedical Science in Melbourne, he then decided to pursue his long forgotten childhood dream, studying to be a veterinarian. He started his career as a shelter vet in a charitable animal welfare organization in Hong Kong soon after graduation which allowed him to explore a great diversity of medical & surgical cases, and was actively involved in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. This provided him a precious experience to help those animals who were less fortunate and were abandoned on the streets.

He developed an immense interest in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine after seeing senior vets performing acupuncture therapies on animals while he was still a veterinary student. After graduation, he pursued further studies on acupuncture provided by The Chi Institute which was founded and taught by one of the world leaders in Veterinary Chinese Medicine, Dr Huisheng Xie, and he is currently taking courses on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Herbal Medicines. He also actively participates in a variety of continuing professional development programs and conferences with special interests in internal medicine and emergency and critical care medicine. His ultimate goals are to arouse attention of animal welfare to the public and to provide high standard of care to the fluffy friends.

When not working, he enjoys spending time with his rescued domestic short hair cat Mel B, hiking and water sports such as snorkeling.
